Poker Odds and Percentages

Poker Odds before the Flop: This is page one of Poker Odds. Use these charts to determine your chances before the flop By using the poker odds in these charts you will be able to bet with the percentages on your side

While betting strategy and bluffing are key elements in winning Hold'em Poker, having the cards and knowing how to use them is the ultimate advantage.  Most poker pros will tell you this, "Sooner or later you have to have the cards."

There is one essential trait that all good poker players have.  It cannot be evaluated on a chart or quantified in percentages but without it the best satistician in the world is a mediocre player.  The trait is discipline.  Waiting until you have the right cards and situation before you make your move will put you head and shoulders above the rest.

Professional poker players make their living off players who get impatient and play inferior hands.  Oftentimes a player will compound the mistake by trying to force a win by overbetting a poor hand.  The result is another day's pay for a smart and patient player.

Just how often will you be dealt a good hand?  The following chart tells how often you will get a top hand...
Poker Hand
How many ways the hand can be made Odds of Getting the Hand

Royal Flush 4 1 in 649,740.00
Straight Flush 36 1 in 72,193.33
Four of a Kind 624 1 in 4,165.00
Full House 3,744 1 in 694.16
Flush 5,108 1 in 508.80
Straight 10,200 1 in 254.80
Three of a Kind 54,912 1 in 47.32
Two Pairs 123,552 1 in 21.03
One Pair 1,098,240 1 in 2.36
No Pair Hand 1,302,540 1 in 1.99

Though the above odds actually apply to a five card draw they still show the relative odds of drawing any poker hands.  Since you actually get 5 community cards as well as your two pocket cards to make your hand in Hold'em your chances of getting each hand are a little greater, but since you share those community cards with your opponents, their chances of making the hand are the same.  What it all boils down to is use these odds to assess your chances of making a hand and your opponent making a better one.
Pocket Pairs Winning Percentages
# Players AA KK QQ J J TT 99 88 77 66 55 44 33 22
 2 88 85 82 79 77 74 71 68 65 63 60 57 55
 3 76 72 68 64 60 56 52 48 45 43 40 37 34
 4 68 63 58 54 50 46 43 39 36 33 30 26 22
 7 44 39 34 30 27 25 23 21 20 19 17 16 15
 10 34 30 26 22 20 18 16 14 13 12 11 10 10
The table above shows the expected winning percentages of pocket pairs when the specified number of players plays to the end of the hand.  Of course this may not always happen so the percentages may actually be a bit higher.  Nevertheless, this table gives a good idea of how well you can expect to do with any pocket pair before you see any community cards.
